Nathan Conroy: Lunch & Learn Keynote Presentation

May 13, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Thursday, May 13th, Nathan Conroy will be presenting “Metered Madness: 5 Ways Students Are Saving Water and Energy.” The presentation will be a virtual event from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Register here!  Mid-Valley STEM-CTE Hub’s STEM Week Oregon 2021 Event Registration (google.com)

Description:

Teachers across the country are sending their students outside to the sidewalk or around the side of their home in search of utility meters. Join us to find and learn about these hidden-in-plain-sight advanced technologies that track how much we use but can also be used to help us save. This interactive presentation will allow students to compare their real home with typical data patterns of water and energy use plus share their opinion of popular strategies to be more efficient.

Bio:

Nate Conroy was a teacher in Portland, Sherwood, and rural Honduras before creating the STEM program MeterHero. His interest in how technology and personal choices can help us better utilize natural resources comes from visiting his grandparent’s farm near Klamath Falls where there is often not enough water to go around. When not admiring utility meters Nate enjoys growing flowers as well as supporting the Portland Timbers and Thorns with his kids.
