Estoy muy orgullosa de mi carrera vers\u00e1til. He sido muy afortunada de tener una vasta trayectoria profesional. He trabajado en ingenier\u00eda, cadena de suministro, calidad y gesti\u00f3n de programas. Incluso llev\u00e9 a cabo un programa de desarrollo de liderazgo en toda la corporaci\u00f3n y ahora dirijo mi empresa en Responsabilidad Social Corporativa. Demostrando que era una ingeniera competente, no estaba seguro de si mis compa\u00f1eros pensaban que era competente. Yo era una mujer de raza negra (y durante mucho tiempo, la \u00fanica mujer de raza negra), en el mundo de la ingenier\u00eda de hombres blancos. Recib\u00ed los mensajes de micro agresi\u00f3n y micro inequidad mucho antes de saber que hab\u00eda un t\u00e9rmino para ellos. En los d\u00edas en que me sent\u00eda sola y derrotada, ten\u00eda que recordarme a m\u00ed misma que me gan\u00e9 mi lugar all\u00ed y que merec\u00eda estar all\u00ed. Tambi\u00e9n me ayud\u00f3 a contar con el apoyo de mi red de otras mujeres y personas de color que compartieron experiencias similares a las m\u00edas en sus respectivas culturas de trabajo. Incluso he tenido mujeres gerentes que, con solo estar en sus roles, me inspiraron a perseverar.<\/span><\/p>\nP: Es posible que muchas mujeres j\u00f3venes no est\u00e9n al tanto de la carrera disponible en los campos STEM.<\/b><\/p>\n
\u00a0\u00bfQu\u00e9 cree que se puede hacer para correr la voz entre las mujeres sobre las opciones de carrera en estos campos?<\/b><\/p>\n
Aumentar la exposici\u00f3n a ocupaciones STEM y a mujeres y personas de color en ocupaciones STEM en escuelas primarias y secundarias. Las percepciones de lo que se supone que debemos ser y hacer se forman muy temprano en nuestras vidas.
