“It’s been a wonderful and busy school year,” said Svea Bruslind, Mobile Makerspace program assistant, as the team prepped for their last library event for the season at the Scio Public Library on June 7th.
However, just because the school year is over, does not mean we won’t be out in the community over the summer. The Mobile Makerspace team is working diligently towards transitions from school-year library events to STEAM-centered summer fun in the sun.
This summer the Mobile Makerspace curriculum is focusing on the natural world. Be sure to join us for an event or two as we learn about sunlight and wavelengths, by making suncatchers using tissue paper and collected pieces of nature. Or, come learn about ecology and strengthen your critical thinking by creating and exploring food webs. We will also jump into the world of forensic science by learning about the properties of UV light.
We will be bringing these projects and other fun activities to local farmers markets in Scio, Sweet Home, Lebanon, Brownsville, and Monroe, along with fun summer events like Monroe Art in the Park and Fun in the Park with Albany Parks and Recreation. Look for us at your local farmers market, or check out our events page on our website to find out where we will be!
