The Wahuda Benchtop Jointer is a woodworking machine used to create flat surfaces and straight, square edges on lumber. It is commonly used to prepare rough or uneven boards for joining boards together. The jointer removes thin layers of wood using a rotating cutterhead, helping create smooth, even surfaces for accurate assembly.
To operate, the depth of cut and fence position are adjusted before the board is fed across the infeed table, over the rotating cutterhead, and onto the outfeed table. The fence helps guide the board when creating straight edges or square corners. A jointer flattens one face or straightens one edge of a board; it does not make both faces parallel like a thickness planer.
Compatible Materials
The Wahuda jointer is designed for solid wood, including common hardwoods and softwoods. Boards should be free of nails, screws, staples, and other foreign objects. Avoid plywood, MDF, particleboard, and other manufactured wood products unless specifically approved for the machine.
Before You Begin
Jointers have rapidly rotating cutters that present serious blade-contact and kickback hazards. Wear eye and hearing protection, keep hands away from the cutterhead, and use push blocks or push pads to guide material safely across the tables. Secure loose clothing, jewelry, and long hair.
Always keep the cutterhead guard in place and functioning properly. Inspect boards for foreign objects, cracks, and loose knots before cutting. Never attempt to joint material that is too short, narrow, or thin to control safely. Disconnect the power before making adjustments, cleaning, or performing maintenance, and wait for the cutterhead to stop completely before approaching the cutting area.
New to using a jointer? Start with a straight, adequately sized piece of solid wood and practice making shallow passes to flatten one face or straighten one edge. Become familiar with proper feed direction, push-block positioning, and safe material handling before working with rough or uneven lumber.
