The Riley Hopkins 150 is a manual screen printing press used to transfer designs onto printable materials. This model has four screen positions and one printing station, allowing users to create single-color designs or layer multiple screens to produce designs with up to four colors.

During printing, the item is placed over the press platen and a prepared screen is positioned above it. Ink is placed onto the screen and pulled across the design with a squeegee, pushing ink through the open areas of the stencil and onto the material below. For multicolor designs, separate screens are generally prepared and aligned for each color.

Compatible Materials

Screen printing is commonly used on cotton, polyester, fabric blends, paper, and other flat printable surfaces, depending on the ink and printing process being used. Always confirm that the ink is appropriate for the material and follow the ink manufacturer's curing requirements.

Before You Begin

Make sure screens are securely clamped into the press before printing. Keep fingers and hands clear of hinges, springs, clamps, and other pinch points when raising, lowering, or rotating screens. Wear appropriate gloves, aprons, and other protective equipment when working with inks, emulsions, cleaners, or other chemicals as directed by their labels and Safety Data Sheets.

New to screen printing? Start with a one-color design to practice screen setup, ink application, squeegee pressure, registration, and curing before attempting multicolor prints.
